**TW for animal abuse, animal torture, animal death**

I don’t normally make long posts like this, but I’m hoping that I can help at least one person out.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was in theaters and has been streaming on Disney+ for a few days. The movie is great, btw. It’s funny and beautiful and heartwarming. IMO it’s the perfect send off for our beloved superhero found family. Definitely worth the watch. And chances are if you were wanting to see it, you already have. But if you haven’t yet and are planning to, I want to give you a warning.

IF YOU ARE AT ALL SENSITIVE TO DEPICTIONS OF ANIMAL ABUSE, ANIMAL TORTURE OR ANIMAL DEATH, PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION WHEN WATCHING THIS MOVIE.

I know the animals aren’t real. I know they’re CGI and no actual animals were harmed. And I know that sometimes we like to poke fun at trigger warnings when we feel like they are arbitrary or excessive. But this is one of the times where I really could have used some. I had no idea that GotG 3 was going involve Rocket’s backstory. And if you know anything about his story, you know it is very dark and devastating, especially in regards to how humans treat animals. I’ve seen plenty of movies with animals dying or being tortured. Heck, I’ve even watched C*nn*bal H*l*ca*st where real animals were k*lled onscreen. The difference is that I knew what I was getting into and was able to mentally prepare myself for it. And for the record, I didn’t handle the deaths in that movie very well either.

Of course, there are extenuating circumstances in my case. A lot of stressors not related to this movie were weighing on me going into it that definitely affected my reaction. But I still maintain that I would’ve had a much easier time had I known what I was getting into from the top.

This post is my warning to you, just on the off chance that you’re like me and appreciate the heads up when it comes to certain topics.
